The case for evening council meetings

A council meeting held in the middle of a workday is technically public and practically closed to most working residents. Moving regular meetings to the evening where practical is one of the cheapest accessibility improvements a municipality can make.

Recording meetings and making them publicly accessible online goes further: residents can watch later, at their own pace, and see how decisions were actually made - subject to the lawful closed-session and privacy rules that apply to any council. Where feasible, carrying meetings or municipal updates on Westman Communications' local community channel would reach residents who aren't online.

This is a proposal, not a criticism of anyone. Any change like this needs a council decision, a bit of equipment, and a willingness to try it, so what I can commit to is bringing it forward and advocating for it.
